Part 2: Mosaic Clubhouse - Exhibition by Sam Ivin

  • New House Art Space Fays Passage Guildford, England, GU1 4SQ United Kingdom (map)

Part One: Quickly Collage, 1st May to 10th May

Audiences are invited to create and display their own collaging artwork, reflecting on their own interests and wellbeing. Prompted by a few questions, the general public have the opportunity to fill the Newhouse Art Space walls with their own colourful creations. Selected artwork will be featured later in month alongside the Mosaic Clubhouse exhibition.

Part Two: Mosaic Clubhouse, 20th May to 5th June

Private View: Friday 22nd June 6-8pm

In 2018 Ivin created a series of collaborative portraits with members of Mosaic Clubhouse, a mental health service in Brixton, South London. Thanks to support from Guildford Philanthropy this work is now being exhibited for the first time at New House Art Space.

Mosaic Clubhouse aims to bring people with mental health issues out of isolation. The clubhouse approach to recovery emphasises community and co-production; it is deliberately understaffed so its members are encouraged to take part in the day-to-day running of the centre, enabling them to meet new people and build their confidence.

Through numerous visits, Ivin has created a series of collaborative collage portraits exploring members’ identities. Each person decorates their own portrait using images they feel best represent themselves, giving us an insight into their lives and time at Mosaic.

Sam Ivin is also hosting an event on the 7th May - Collage Portrait Workshop
