Farnham Folklore Society have collaborated with New House Art Space to bring you this folklore-inspired exhibition, based on the Folk Bang! zine that was published earlier this year. The exhibition will be a celebration of the works from the zine, accompanied by a series of exclusive events and workshops taking place at New House Art Space throughout October and early November.
About Farnham Folklore Society
Farnham Folklore Society is open to all who are inspired and ensnared by the folklore of the local area and creatures from further afield.
The society’s aims are to inspire and creatively keep the rich history of folklore and magic alive. The beauty of folklore is the shared stories within communities that bring people together, and this is what they hope to achieve through monthly meetings and regular exhibitions, field trips, guided walks and workshops throughout the year.
The founding group consists of members who identify as LGBTQ+ and are neurodivergent. They use their personal experiences to make meetings a fun and inclusive safe space for all who want to enjoy the creative twist they put on folklore.
About the Founders
Hattie Hyder
Hattie Hyder is a multi award winning illustrator and printmaker who specialises in lino cut and watercolour inspired by nature and folklore. She has extensive experience in providing art workshops for adults and children, as well as creative storytelling and performing. She has previously worked with the National Trust, Yehudi Menuhin School, Woking Museum and The New Ashgate Gallery.
Thirzah Bragg
Thirzah Bragg is an artist who specialises in lino cut and traditional copper embossing. She has been the Artist in Residence at the Battle Folk and Fable Festival and has her work displayed in several National Trust properties and the East Anglian Folklore Centre. She also provides workshops and traditional craft activities for all ages and abilities.
