Transformation
A Lost British Artist Re-emerges After 40 Years
Taylor-Jones & Son present Transformation, an exhibition of paintings by Victoria Taylor, a Royal College of Art graduate from 1965 to 1968.
A contemporary of leading figures of the 1960s art scene, Taylor’s early promise faded as she withdrew from public life following personal tragedy. After profound loss, she chose never to exhibit her work again. Now living in a care home and unable to paint, her final wish was for her early works to be shown once more as Victoria Taylor, Transformation.
Discovered during a house clearance by her niece, the paintings are believed to be over 40 years old and represent the strongest surviving works from her abandoned home. It has taken three years to bring this exhibition together .
The Transformation series explores identity, otherness and metamorphosis through striking human and animal figures. The works are bold, confrontational and unmistakably original.
With the artist no longer able to create, these works form a rare and finite body of art.
Original artworks are for sale and range from £4,000–£10,000. Limited edition prints are in development and will also be available for purchase.
Transformation runs from 17 to 28 April.
