Celebrating our past, creating our future

Celebrating our past, creating our future provides a unique insight into the pasts & future ambitions of LGBTQIA+ young adults.

Over a number of months, Blossom LGBT CIC has hosted a number of workshop where we've taken a deep dive into areas of our communities heritage & used that to inspire our future visions for the community. This space takes a forward thinking approach into the future of LGBTQIA+ movements whilst paying hommage to our rich heritage of triumpthing through adversity.

Featuring work from a combination of established and ameature LGBTQIA+ artists plus performers to be confirmed!

We're exciting to be launching the exhibition with a fantastic party boasting to-be-announced musical entertainment from acts within the LGBTQIA+ community, cocktails, and performing artists. All made possible by The National Lottery Heritage Fund & the kind support of local businesses throughout the country.

This isn't an event to be missed and we're excited to be welcoming individuals from all demographics to come and partake in the celebrations. We have something for everyone - even those who might not be completely taken by viewing arts. Join us for a drink and stay for an evening of brilliant entertainment.

Blossom LGBT CIC is a non profit organisation operating across the United Kingdom with the mission to empower the amazing things that LGBTQIA+ young adults can achieve without the fear of discrimination. This manifests across a one to one mentoring scheme, workshops, and holistic wellbeing support. The exhibition & launch event has been curated by Blossom LGBT CIC and in particular by:

Shivani Dave (They/Them)
Shivani is a project manager at Blossom LGBT CIC looking after our arts & heritage project. They are also a broadcaster, journalist, and self proclaimed 'career queer' working to further LGBTQIA+ equality across the country.

Oscar Hoyle (They/Them)
Oscar is the CEO of Blossom LGBT CIC and is responsible for all of our daily activities. Oscar also leads on Blossom LGBT CIC's consultancy and training services whilst also volunteering with multiple LGBTQIA+ organisations to help improve their strategy, fundraising, and managment.

The event is taking place at New House Art Space in Guildford. New House Art Space & Gallery is a social enterprise centering the voices of diverse artists & community projects whilst focusing on building a creative community at its heart. Home to almost 20 indepedent creatives & small businesses, New House Art Space is a dynamic & fun start up space where creativity and individuality is embraced. New House Art Space is also home to Frida's coffee house, a co-working and speciality coffee bar - allowing you to work within the art during the week!

This project has been made possible by the National Lottery Heritage Fund. The Heritage Fund is the largest funder for the UK's heritage. Their vision is for heritage to be valued, cared for and sustained for everyone, now and in the future.

Our project with the Heritage Fund consists of research into LGBTQIA+ Heritage, community upskilling workshops focusing on learning about heritage and arts, exhibitions, and archiving of our work.
